Renting Space At Heanor Antiques Centre

The following are commonly asked questions to help you decide if you want to sell your goods at Heanor Antiques Centre.

I'm just a novice at selling - does that matter?

No - Everyone is new at something and we have experienced staff to help price items.

Can I sell anything I like?

No. It must be second hand and considered a collectable or Antique. If you look around the centre you may be amazed at what is collectable! Reproduction, which can occasionally slip in is not acceptable. 

What do I have to do at the centre?

Nothing. Your rent pays for everything - staffing, rates, lighting, heating etc. All you do is stock your stand. This can give you more time to work.

How do I get paid?

You write your agreed name on every ticket, with price and possible description. When an item sells your sale is written in your  sales book which is added up and paid out when you request. (Except Lunch times)  

How much money will I make?

We don't know. Some Antique dealers turnover £20,000 - £30,000 a year and some a few hundred, dependant on space rented and stock value.

Should I rent lots of space straight away?

No - besides there are very few units to let, you need to find your 'market' and see what sales you have. You should ideally start by trying to make 3 or 4 times your rent before branching out.

Is my stock insured?

No. You can get private insurance for fire and theft, but nobody will insure for shoplifting. We have a surveillance system and have a low theft rate, but If it's valuable lock it away!

How much is it really going to cost me to sell at Heanor?

It depends where you want to be. The fourth floor cabinets are £35 The main floor cabinets are  £35 to £55. and the units are £60 to £110 a month for 6ft widths. There is commission on sales of  7% which covers all banking costs and running costs.

How long do I have to stay?

We ask for 24 months. This will give you an opportunity to see the full sale cycle in a year and to show us you are committed to being a dealer. Most dealers have been with us for years and years, if not from the very beginning.
